Functional Skills Mathematics - Entry Levels 1, 2 & 3

Entry Level qualifications develop the foundations of maths and help students to develop their practical mathematical skills that support them in understanding and applying maths to everyday situations. Through this qualification , students will develop confidence, independence and fluency in maths skills that help them to get the most out of education, work and everyday life.

Functional Skills Mathematics - Level 1

The purpose of the Functional Skills Mathematics Level 1 qualification is to build upon students’ understanding of mathematical concepts and to demonstrate both mathematical skills at the appropriate level and the ability to apply mathematical thinking effectively to solve problems successfully to real life situations.

Functional Skills Mathematics - Level 2

The purpose of the Functional Skills Mathematics Level 2 qualification is to continue to deepen and broaden students’ knowledge, skills and understanding and to allow them to demonstrate this at the appropriate level and the ability to apply mathematical thinking effectively to solve problems successfully to real life situations.

GCSE Mathematics

The purpose of GCSE mathematics is to develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts; for students to have the ability to acquire, select and apply mathematical techniques to solve problems. reason mathematically, make deductions and inferences and draw conclusions.  The structure of the concepts falls into four key areas: Number, Algebra, Ratio & Rate of Change, Geometry and Measures, Statistics and Probability.  Within the GCSE course, there are two different tiers: Foundation and Higher.
